Ty Dillon fastest in final practice for U.S. Cellular 250 presented by New Holland

NEWTON, Iowa (July 31, 2015) – Brandon McReynolds raced to his second consecutive win at Iowa Speedway Friday night in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series #ThanksKenny 150. Iowa Speedway has hosted the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East / West combination race since 2007 and McReynolds became its first repeat winner.

“To be able to come here to Iowa, which in many ways is our [NASCAR’s K&N Series’] all-star race, and leave with a victory is incredibly special,” said McReynolds. “To do it with my Dad being here is very cool.”

McReynolds dominated the race, leading 127 of 150 laps after starting from the pole. He had a scare on Lap 146 when Jesse Little pulled ahead of him on a restart. Unfazed, McReynolds caught up to Little, cleared him and raced to his second straight visit to Casey’s General Stores Victory Lane.

NASCAR Next member Little finished second.

The #ThanksKenny 150 will air on NBC Sports Network Thursday, August 6, at 6 p.m. CT.

Next up for Iowa Speedway is the NASCAR XFINITY Series U.S. Cellular 250 presented by New Holland tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. CT.

TY DILLON FASTEST IN FINAL PRACTICE

Former winner at Iowa Speedway, Ty Dillon, earned the fastest speed in the final NASCAR XFINITY Series practice at Iowa Speedway at 133.01 mph. Dillon was followed by Richard Childress Racing teammate Brendan Gaughan (132.704).

Daniel Suarez, who was fastest in the first session, was ninth quickest with a speed of 131.026 mph. Suarez qualified second for the 3M 250 in May.

Preparing for his final NASCAR race, Kenny Wallace set the 15th fastest speed. Wallace is officially retiring from NASCAR national series competition this weekend at Iowa Speedway.

Wallace’s 546 starts lead the NASCAR XFINITY Series’ all-time list – 26 starts more than second-place Jason Keller. The 51-year-old veteran made his first NASCAR XFINITY Series start at Martinsville Speedway in 1988. He posted his first series win at Volusia County Speedway in 1991.

Qualifying for the U.S. Cellular 250 presented by New Holland is scheduled to start at 3:45 p.m. CT Saturday followed by the race at 7. Fans should plan to arrive at Iowa Speedway early to avoid congestion. Parking lots open at 9:30 a.m. CT with plenty of pre-race entertainment for fans to enjoy leading up to the green flag.

KIDS Q&A

On Saturday, August 1 at 1:15 p.m. CT, Iowa Speedway will host the final Kids Q&A session of 2015. The exclusive “Q&A” sessions allow our younger fans to pose their own questions to star drivers. NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers Brennan Poole and Brandon Jones will be in the Mediacom Media Center for the fourth installment of the new Iowa Speedway tradition. The session is open to the first 120 fans under the age of 18. Flyers will be distributed upon entry to kids under 18 in addition to PA announcements. Participating children are asked to meet in Casey’s General Stores Victory Lane where they will be escorted to the Drivers Meeting Room at 1:10 p.m. CT. Parents are also invited to attend. Similar to working press, no autographs of drivers or racing personalities will be allowed.

Pork ‘n’ Jam

Every fan attending Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series U.S. Cellular 250 presented by New Holland may join the NASCAR-style celebration immediately after the checkered flag waves, culminating Iowa Speedway’s 2015 race season.

The “Pork ‘n’ Jam” will take place on the recently raced frontstretch of Iowa Speedway and feature NASCAR XFINITY Series driver appearances and music from country music star Tim Dugger. Revelers will also have an opportunity to win prizes and giveaways, grab a drink and party “under the lights.”
