The Oskaloosa City Band 2015

The Oskaloosa City Band 2015

The Oskaloosa City Band will perform on the bandstand Thursday evening at 8 p.m. This week’s concert includes: “Over the Rainbow” featuring a saxophone solo, “Stranger on the Shore” featuring the clarinets, and “Seventy-Six Trombones” featuring the trombone section. The band will perform hits from the 1970’s including: “Dancing Queen” and “The Best of the Bee Gees”. Also included in the program are two Karl King marches (“Peacemaker” and “The American Way”) and an Andrew Glover (C.L. Barnhouse composer) arrangement of Henry Fillmore’s “American Exultant”.

Each week, local businesses provide complimentary refreshments, including: cold beverages (Hawkeye Real Estate), popcorn (TruBank), and snow cones (SnoBiz). Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and invite a friend or a neighbor to enjoy a favorite Oskaloosa summer tradition. Attendees are encouraged to blow bubbles during the concert, especially during the final song.

At each July concert, the Oskaloosa High School Cheer Squad will be having an Ice Cream Bar fundraiser and will be selling bowls of ice cream and deluxe sundaes.
