Oskaloosa, Iowa | Age 64

Jerry Rogers, 64 of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Jerry Lee Rogers was born July 31, 1950 in Oskaloosa, Iowa the son of Oden Dewitt Rogers and Eva Lorene Piercel.

Jerry was a 1968 graduate of the Tri-County High School and later attended two years at North East Missouri State.

In 1970 Jerry decided to join the Army where he trained as an Armor Crewman in Fort Knox, Kentucky. After his time in the military he returned home and continued farming with his family. On November 25, 1978 Jerry was united in marriage to Donna Lee Garrett.

Jerry began doing auto body work out of his garage and before long Jerry’s Body Shop was established and operated in his garage. In 1985 the couple moved to Oskaloosa where Jerry found work as a Salesman. Over the years he worked for Carriker Ford, Devore Chevrolet, Oskaloosa Implement and Ulrich Ford. Jerry was also a member of several bands where he played guitar.

Jerry enjoyed classic cars, exotic pets and certainly didn’t mind being a little different. Jerry’s love for his wife and four daughters only grew stronger with the passing of each day. As any father would, he shared in the pride of teaching life lessons to his four favorite daughters. Jerry was never too busy that his daughters couldn’t tag along by his side. When his daughters asked Daddy a question he graciously took the time to share his knowledge with his daughters. Jerry was a proud father and a grateful husband to the women who held his hand through his battle with cancer.

Jerry is survived by his wife Donna, of Oskaloosa; four daughters: Chantel Olsen of Pleasant Hill, Chastina (& Richard Harrington) Shilling of Oskaloosa, Charita (& Chris) Ruggeri of Ankeny, and Chalena (& Matt) Montavon of Oskaloosa; a brother, Leroy (& Donna) Rogers of What Cheer and a sister, Mary (& Larry) Kaufman of Anamosa. He also leaves behind a legacy of ten grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
