Oskaloosa City Band Welcomes Lux String Quartet

Lux String Quartet

The Oskaloosa City Band is excited to partner with the Lux String Quartet for their Thursday evening concert. The Lux String Quartet is in Oskaloosa this week providing an intensive summer chamber music camp to area middle / high school students. Ben Davis, who grew up in Oskaloosa, is now a member of the quartet based in Minneapolis / St. Paul.

Thursday evening will be filled with music, beginning at Smokey Row Coffee House. The camp participants and the Lux String Quartet will perform a “jam session” at 6 pm. The Lux String Quartet will then perform at the Bandstand at 7:15. Finally, the quartet will perform alongside the Oskaloosa City Band for several pieces beginning at 8 pm.

This will be the first time (at least in recent history) for the Oskaloosa community to experience the city band play with a string quartet. Attendees will hear a wide variety of music as always with an even wider variety of instrumentation. It promises to be a night to remember.
