Sandra Marie Van Roekel was born in Mahaska County, Iowa, to Clarence and and Verla Mae (Dumkrieger) Van Roekel on October 2, 1962.

Sandy attended Oskaloosa High School. She lived most of her life in Leighton and Ottumwa, and in 2002 moved to Pella.

After moving to Pella, she worked at the Christian Opportunity Center for many years until becoming an independent member of the community. Sandy was employed at the Windmill Café in Pella for 10 years.

She had a big heart and loved to play fetch with dogs and cats. Many will remember Sandy from riding her bike around Pella.

Sandy was a tissue donor.

Those who will cherish her memory are her brothers and sisters: Henry (& Twylah) Van Roekel of Leighton, Dorothy Hayes of Torrington, Wyoming, Don Van Roekel of Pella, Carolyn Robinett of California, Clarence Van Roekel, Jr. of Trenton, Missouri, and Doris Van Roekel of Oskaloosa.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and siblings: Howard Van Roekel, Barbara Van Roekel, and Gladys Van Roekel.

Sandy will be missed by her family and many special friends at Christian Opportunity Center.
