Nancy Louise Cook, 78, of Hedrick died Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. She was born Monday, December 21, 1936 in Drakesville, Iowa, the daughter of Homer and Wilma Harris Lawrence.

Nancy attended school in Memphis, Missouri and graduated from the Memphis High School with the class of 1954.

Nancy worked for a time in the office at JcPenny’s in Memphis and the Bank of Memphis in Memphis, as well as National Bank of Burlington in Burlington, Iowa, First National Bank in LaVerne, California and lastly at Hedrick Savings Bank in Hedrick, Iowa for almost 31 years, until her retirement in June of 2000.

On October 11, 1980, Nancy was united to Charles R. Cook at the Christian Church in Milton, Iowa.

Nancy enjoyed camping with her family and friends.

Nancy was a member of the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri and the Hedrick American Legion Auxiliary in Hedrick, Iowa for 34 years and served several years as the secretary and treasurer.

Nancy’s family includes: her husband, Charles R. Cook of Hedrick; a sister, Becca (& Jerry) Caligiuri of Des Moines; a nephew, Scott (& Melissa) Woodruff of Des Moines; and great nieces and nephews: Adam and Nate Bognar and Zyla and Blayce Woodruff.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and a nephew, Kevin Lee Stephenson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 18, 2015 at 1 P.M. at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri with Brother Larry Smith officiating.
There will be a period of visitation from 12 noon until service time at 1 P.M. on Monday at the Downing Christian Church.
Burial will be in the Downing Cemetery in Downing. Norman Funeral Home is in charge of the Downing arrangements.
Visitation will be held at the Fremont Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 15, 2015 after 1 P.M. and the family will be present at the funeral chapel in Fremont on Friday from 5 – 7 P.M. to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Hedrick American Legion Auxiliary or to the Downing Christian Church.
