Harry LeMay, 90, of Knoxville and formerly of Evans, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015, at the West Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Knoxville.

Harry Glen LeMay, son of Ernest Roy and Eula Ann (Kline) LeMay, was born July 23, 1924, at the home of his parents near Tracy in rural Marion County.

Following his education, Harry helped his father on the farm until he was called to serve in WWII. He entered the Army, May 8, 1945, and spent almost a year in the Asiatic Pacific Theater serving as a truck driver. He was discharged December 12, 1946.

Upon his return Harry began farming near Tracy. He married Betty Lucille Jenkins June 1, 1947. Harry was employed by Clow Valve Company foundry for several years, before he and Betty moved to Arizona for a short time. Upon their return to Iowa, he worked at the DX Filling Station and then Pella Corp. He was lastly employed by Lee Roland, driving a truck and hauling coal.

Harry enjoyed all things mechanical and rebuilt many engines, he also enjoyed fishing and gardening. In his later years, he really enjoyed mowing his lawn; he enjoyed it so much that he mowed his neighbors lawns as well.

Harry’s family includes his children: Raymond Roy (& Marla) LeMay of Evans, Harry Lee LeMay of Evans, and Connie Sue (& Harold) Barnes of Knoxville; four grandchildren: Derek LeMay of Evans, Jeffrey LeMay of Albia, Harold Ray Barnes of Newton, and Holly Mallery of Chandler, AZ; and seven great grandchildren: Alana, Rachel and Starfire LeMay, Brad and C.J. Barnes, and Savannah and Cole Mallery.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Betty on May 22, 1995, Harry was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Denise LeMay; and his three siblings: Donald and Marvin LeMay and Ruth Bergin.

Funeral services for Harry will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Rietveld of Riverside Community Church in Knoxville officiating.
Visitation will held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday; the family will be present from 9:30 to service time on Tuesday morning.
Burial will be in Bellefountain Cemetery.
