Doris E. Matusick Coulon, 95, of Ottumwa and formerly of Oskaloosa, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 6, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa.

Doris Elizabeth Coulon, was born October 9, 1919, in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Walter W. and Melanie H. (Hueser) Chambers.

Doris attended Whittier Elementary School as a child and went on to graduate Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1938. She then attended William Penn College for two years.

She married Warren Caldwell, August 28, 1940; he died October 11, 1946. She married Wilbur “Mike” Matusick, June 8, 1948; he died February 23, 1981. She married Leland A. Coulon, December 12, 1981; he died December 23, 1992.

Doris was a homemaker and a long-time member of Central United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, P.E.O. Chapter X, Home Ec. Club, and Kings Daughters Charity Circle. She served on numerous boards and committees at her church and clubs. After moving to Ottumwa in 1995, she transferred her membership to Wesley United Methodist Church and P.E.O Chapter HQ.

Doris’ family includes her daughter-in-law, Betty Matusick of Willmar, MN; two grandchildren: Ann (& Dale) Anderson of Willmar, MN and Michael Matusick of Ottumwa; three great grandchildren: David Anderson of Minneapolis, MN, Megan Matusick of Ames, IA and Mikel Matusick of Ottumwa; a nephew, Chris Chamber; and two nieces: Jennifer Vicarel and Melissa Chambers.

In addition to her parents and her three husbands, Doris was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Robert Matusick; an infant grandson, Thomas Robert Matusick Jr.; and a brother, Robert Chambers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Reverend Bruce Wittern officiating.
A visitation will preceed the service from 10 – 11 a.m.
Burial of her ashes will be in Forest Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Society, Ottumwa.
