May is Better Hearing and Speech Month

May is Better Hearing and Speech Month, a time to raise awareness about communication disorders and available treatment options that can improve the quality of life for those who experience problems speaking, understanding, or hearing. Mahaska Hearing Aid Center is Oskaloosa's only full time hearing specialist and we are here to help improve lives through better hearing. Mayor Dave Krutzfeldt was here to help kick off better hearing month, he signed a proclamation urging Oskaloosa to learn more about hearing loss, and he also had his hearing tested.

Some signs of hearing loss are: asking others to repeat speech, turning up the television, and ringing in your ears. Those experiencing hearing loss may also experience increased frustration levels and difficulties with personal relationships. The impacts of hearing loss also extend to friends and family members. During the month of May, Mahaska Hearing Aid Center is offering free hearing evaluations as a way to promote the importance of hearing health and to provide information to improve the quality of life for those with hearing difficulties. Call us today to schedule your free hearing evaluation or stop by the office located at 714 A Ave. West in Oskaloosa, Monday – Friday 9:00-4:00
