Leta Hollmann, 96 of Grinnell, and formerly of Malcom, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 16, 2015 at the Grinnell Care Center in Grinnell.

Leta Maude Hollmann, the daughter of John E. and Bertha Maude (Johnston) Gilmore, was born on April 28, 1918 southwest of Brooklyn, Iowa.

Leta graduated from Montezuma High School with the class of 1936. On June 19, 1949, Leta was united in marriage to Edward Hollmann at the Methodist Church in Montezuma.

Ed and Leta made their home on a farm near Ewart where they farmed for a number of years. Leta worked in the Poweshiek County Assessor’s office for several years and she was the Poweshiek County Auditor for six years. Leta was also a secretary for Harold Bryan Attorney, R.J. Smith Attorney & Smith & Swink Attorney and the A.S.C.S Office in Malcom. Ed and Leta moved to Seeland Park in Grinnell in 1995.

She was a member of D.A.R, the Montezuma United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Poweshiek County Historical Genealogy Society

Leta is survived by 1 niece and several cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Bertha Gilmore; her husband, Edward Hollmann; her brother, Cecil Gilmore; and a niece.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.
Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon, April 19, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Poweshiek County Historical Society.
