The Oskaloosa Shooting Team hosted its first home field shooting tournament of the season this past Friday night with the teams of Albia and North Mahaska joining them in some 5-Stand action.

The team started off the night with their youngest division, the Rookies. These youngsters do a GREAT job handling their firearms and the pressures of competition. The squad of Dominic Purdum, Cade Kelderman, Aby Thompson, Cody Scholtus and Jaxon Waite set the pace for the evening with their big smiles and “we can do it” attitude.

The Intermediate Advanced squad members of Jacob Mason, Brayden VanKampen, Ethan Herr, Alex

Brittain and Alan Carmichael ended up with a 1st place finish. The squad of Kenny Settimi, Joesph Heimroth, Andrew Appleget, Aaron Vos and Colin Fiechtner took 2nd place, just one target from their team mates on the first squad.

The Oskaloosa teams Junior Varsity shooters of Spencer Little, Hunter Sheets, Josh Nord, Elizabeth DeJong and Dakota Gillam showed tremendous team work to take home the 1st place medals.

As the darkness set in and the lights came on, the Varsity division stepped up to the stands. The Osky squad of Lauren Herr, Kamron Van Hulzen, Luke Schlesselman, Jason Herr and Cole Waite placed 1st. The squad of Conrad Cunningham, Lake Heaton, Mason Shrader, Alex Shaffer and Tanner DeJong took a close 2nd with Lake Heaton being the high shooter of the evening. The visiting team of Ryan Romanco, Caleb Gradeless, Colton Selvy, Case Scizinski and Blake Bayer from Albia took home 3rd place. The North

Mahaska squad of Reese Strasser, Tyler Strasser, Brant Flenner, Chris Kubli and Mason VanDonselar took 4th place and the squad of Callen DeWitt, Tyler Shuttolewort, Seth Edmundson, Derek Brown and Bailey Hudson took 5th place.

The Oskaloosa Shooting Team would like to thank the traveling team members, coaches and parents of Albia and North Mahaska for making it a fun and successful evening.

The team has this weekend off from competitions due to Oskaloosa Prom. They will be back in action on April 26 in Waukee for their first Skeet and Sporting Clays tournament of the season.
