Andrew Joeseph Scholtus, 23, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, of injuries from an automobile accident. He was born March 18, 1992, in Oskaloosa, the son of Dean Scholtus and Erin Perkins. He attended school in Oskaloosa and Eddyville. He worked various construction jobs, lastly for Steven’s Concrete, Ltd.
Andrew enjoyed hunting mushrooms, fishing, playing the guitar, and being outdoors. Andrew especially loved spending time with his family.
His family includes his mother, Erin (& Joel) Perkins Wynes of Oskaloosa; his father, Dean (& Gina) Scholtus of Fremont; paternal grandmother, Carol Scholtus of Fremont; maternal grandparents: Jim & Vicki Perkins of Oskaloosa and John & Mary Youngberg of Oskaloosa; a sister, Katherine (& Josh) DeLong of Oskaloosa; four brothers: Mitchel Scholtus of Rose Hill, John Carr of Oskaloosa, Neal Johnson of Oskaloosa, and Drew Jones of Minnesota; nieces and nephews: Hayden, Lily, Rory, and Eddy; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Marion Scholtus; and his maternal great grandparents: Leslie Perkins, and Kenton & Katherine Housh.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Mike Sereg officiating.
Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery east of Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Friday morning after 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel Friday evening from 7-9 to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Andrew Scholtus memorial fund.
