ACTS ANNOUNCES 2015 SERVICE SURGE

ACTS Ministries has announced its annual Service Surge locations in Chariton, Knoxville, Pella, Prairie City, Oskaloosa, and Sully. ACTS is looking for volunteers to lend a hand to their neighbor.

PELLA – April 2015 – A Call To Serve (ACTS) Ministries of Iowa has announced that its annual Service Surge will be held on May 16, 2015 from 7am until 2pm in multiple communities on the same day. (The rain date is scheduled for June 6, 2015.) The Oskaloosa Service Surge will be held on April 25th. On the morning of the Service Surge, volunteers will rendezvous at a location determined by each community. During this time, volunteers will be checked in and will gather with their work teams before beginning their designated projects. Those interested in participating are encouraged to register online at www.actsofiowa.org. Sign up is now available by community and by project. “There are many ways to be involved the day of the Service Surge”, said Breanne Patel, Service Coordinator, “Not only do we need volunteers on the projects, but we could use help behind-the-scenes. Love photography? Want to help with lunch or bake treats? Let us know!” The Service Surge is a simple way to make a huge impact through service and connection to the community. “We’re very excited to see how God will work through this event in 2015. We’ve had such amazing support from our community volunteers in the past and hope to see the same thing this year. It’s a great opportunity for families and groups to serve together” said board member Joel Bennett.

ACTS hosted a Service Surge last year that took place in the communities of Pella, Chariton, Newton, and Oskaloosa. During this service event over 250 volunteers participated and together completed 35 projects. “We’re very excited to see how God will work through this event in 2015. We’ve had such amazing support from our community volunteers in the past and hope to see the same thing this year. It’s a great opportunity for families and groups to serve together”, said board member, Joel Bennett. This year the service projects may include, but are not limited to, painting, cleaning, property clean-up, and wheelchair ramp installations. All volunteers are welcome regardless of age, skill level, or faith background. General labor, hospitality, photo/videographer, and prayer roles are all available. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information about the event, go to www.actsofiowa.org. To nominate individuals in need of assistance, email info@actsofiowa.org. ACTS, a non-profit organization that was established in 2006 in Pella, connects people who need assistance with willing volunteers. ACTS is dedicated to displaying God’s love through projects in the community and through the relationships built through its ministry. ACTS sponsors short-term projects in Pella and surrounding communities by matching volunteers with the “right” projects.
