WPU’s Thompson, Seddon Take Honors Again

Oskaloosa–Neiman Thompson (Jr., Rockville, Md., Physical Education) and Derek Seddon (So., Knoxville, Iowa, Physical Education)were again honored for being at the top of their games as they were named Midwest Collegiate Conference Men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week Monday.

For the second-straight week, Thompson took the Track AOW honor, while Seddon was named Field AOW.

At the Central Invitational last Thursday, Thompson crushed the competition in the sprints, winning the 200 in 21.94 seconds and the 400 in 48.51 seconds, finishing 0.01 seconds from qualifying for nationals in the 400. He also helped the 4×100-meter relay team to second in 42.98 seconds. The junior is best in the league in the 100, 200, and 400.

Seddon broke the school hammer throw record with a winning toss of 161-1. He was also second in the discus, improving his ‘A’ standard mark to 160-3. The sophomore took third in the shot put as well at 46-1.25. Seddon is currently first in the MCC in the discus, second in the hammer, and third in the shot put. He is also ninth in the entire NAIA in the discus.

WPU has now won 12 awards this year.
