Greg Walter, current Oskaloosa High School Girls Soccer coach and long time soccer fan, hosted an alumni game on Saturday April 4th at the stadium at the Lacey Complex. “I think this could start a new tradition,” said Coach Walter, “This is an opportunity to re-connect alumni with current players and a chance for alumni to give back a little to the program. I’d like to see this done every year.” The coed soccer players pay $20 to play in the alumni game. For this they receive a T-shirt and a chance at a fun game of soccer with old and new friends. The remaining proceeds are going to be used to purchase corner flags for the current high school boys and girls soccer programs. “Everyone who competed either graduated or coached for Oskaloosa in the past and several graduated only a few years ago”, said Walter. “The game is not really scored but it’s just a fun opportunity to get people back together, to get alumni involved and connected with current players.” Current high school players are all invited to watch the game and meet or reconnect with players in the/mcrf.laceyrecreation.
