William Penn Softball was shut out twice by #4 St. Xavier.

Oskaloosa–The William Penn softball team could not produce an upset against the #4 team in the land as it was swept by Saint Xavier (Ill.) 8-0 (5 innings) and 7-0 Friday.

The Statesmen (8-19) only managed one hit in the opening game against the Cougars (23-2-1), while four different players had one base knock each in the nightcap.

Unfortunately, the home team was unable to string enough offense together in either outing to get on the board.

Paige Miguel (Jr., Hollister, Calif., Exercise Science) took the loss in the first contest to fall to 0-6, while Lunden Young (Sr., Lewiston, Idaho, Exercise Science) came out of the bullpen in the fifth frame.

Brittanee Grove (Sr., Runnells, Iowa, Elementary Education) is now 4-6 after falling in the nightcap. She had the lone extra base hit on the day with a sixth-inning double.

Next Up: William Penn remains in Oskaloosa Saturday to host Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) in a non-conference doubleheader at 11 a.m.
