Shed Hunting with Dogs

Saturday, April 11

10:00 – 11:30 am

Russell Wildlife Area

Have you ever thought about using a four-legged canine friend to help you find antler sheds? Some people have trained their dogs to find sheds, including a local shed hunter, Jason Callen. Jason’s recently trained dog found at least 23 antler sheds this winter! Come out to the conservation center at the Russell Wildlife Area on Saturday, April 11 from 10:00 – 11:30 am to learn how he trained his dog and see how this hunt is done. Please dress for the weather – we will go outside and watch Jason’s dog in action! There is no cost and pre-registration is appreciated. Call the Mahaska County Conservation Board (641)673-9327 to sign up.

The Russell Wildlife Area is located at 2254 – 200th Street, New Sharon, Iowa which is 5 miles north of Oskaloosa on Hwy. 63 and one mile east on 200th Street.
