Tom Neofotist, 62 of Montezuma passed away Wednesday morning, March 18, 2015 at his home in Montezuma. Thomas William Neofotist, the son of Philip and Virginia Van Hoever Neofotist was born on August 15, 1952 at Des Moines, Iowa.

Tom graduated from the Eldora High School. Tom was married to Sherri Buol. To this union one son was born, Martin. He then married Susie Williams Towns in 1999.

Tom worked for K & P in Monticello, then Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts, followed by Farm Service and then started working for Vannoy Chevrolet in 1993. He was the Parts Manager for 20 years at Vannoy’s Chevrolet, retiring due to his health in 2013.

Tom was an avid racing fan. He followed NASCAR and enjoyed attending the Knoxville Nationals. He liked garage sales, collecting anything, working outdoors, keeping his yard immaculate and tinkering in his shop in the basement.

Those left to honor Tom’s memory are his son, Martin (& Lisa) Neofotist of Monticello, and daughters: Angela (& Thandie) Mkandawire of Ankeny and Valerie Towns (& Stephen Sherman) of Deep River; his grandchildren: Noah, Lincoln, and Lillian Neofotist, Breanna Johnson, Aliya Arvidson and Alexis Mkandawire; his sister, Pat (& Earl) Williams of Marshalltown; and his brother, Steve (& Shirley) Neofotist of Mitchellville; as well as other relatives and many, many friends.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Virginia Neofotist.

As was Tom’s wish, his body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Visitation is from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Saturday morning.
Inurnment will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the funeral home and made out in the family’s name.
