Memphis the Musical

OSKALOOSA, IA — Don’t miss the biggest and last show of the George Daily Auditorium’s 2014-2015 professional season, Memphis the Musical on Tuesday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m.! With explosive dancing, irresistible songs, and a thrilling tale of fame and forbidden love, the Broadway musical is filled with heart, soul, and energy!

This is the must-see show of the season. Winner of four Tony Awards including Best Musical, Memphis tells the story of a radio DJ Huey Calhoun who wants to change the world, Felicia Farrell, the club singer he falls in love with, and their goal to bring rock ‘n’ roll music to the mainstream.

“It’s rare for communities the size of Oskaloosa to get touring musicals this big,” Randy Wright, Executive Director of the George Daily Auditorium, said. Wright has been working with these tours for 13 years. “We have knowledgeable volunteers who help fill out our local crews and that’s why we can do the same caliber of shows that go to much bigger cities.”

Semi trucks will bring everything Memphis needs – set pieces, props, costumes, and more – to the George Daily Auditorium early Tuesday morning. A local crew of 40 people will help Memphis’ crew of professionals unload and set-up throughout the day. Tear down starts immediately after the performance. After the last equipment has been loaded onto the truck, the production is on the road to their next destination.
