Marlene Bunnell, 60, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at the Knoxville Hospital. She was born February 2, 1955 at Oskaloosa, the daughter of Wilbur LeRoy and Donna Jean Russell McCartney.

Marlene attended Oskaloosa High School, and early in her adult life worked at Chief Mahaska Restaurant. On September 11, 1992, Marlene was united in marriage to David Bunnell. She later worked at various Oskaloosa restaurants, including Donna’s Café, Howdy Folks, and Wes’ Café.

She was a lady of strong faith and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa.

Marlene enjoyed reading and collecting various items, especially Native American collectibles and crosses.

Her family includes her husband, David Bunnell of Oskaloosa; a son, Michael Ladeas of Knoxville; two daughters: Athena Ladeas and Konstandina Ladeas, both of Sioux City; a stepson: Troy (& Mary) Bunnell of Beacon; a stepdaughter, Tina Bunnell of Des Moines; three step grandchildren: Caleb, Christopher and Cole Bunnell; two sisters: Nancy McCartney (& James Shook) of Pella and Debra McCartney (& Reggie Schmit) of Grand Island, Nebraska; two brothers: Michael McCartney and Jeff McCartney (& Lori Beason), all of Beacon; and many nieces and nephews.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister: Janice McCartney.

As was her wish she has been cremated.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 9, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Reverend Harold Schutte officiating.
Visitation with the family will be at the funeral chapel Monday from 12 noon until time of the funeral.
