OSKALOOSA’S SKYLAR DEJONG IN FINALS !!!!
When you are a young wrestler you dream of being an Iowa State Wrestling Champion. That dream is now only one match away for Oskaloosa’s #126, #2 ranked Skylar DeJong. DeJong is now 46-1 on the season.
DeJong’s day started off with a come-from-behind win in the quarter finals. DeJong scored a 6-5 decision over Feldman from Dubuque-Hemstead. That win moved DeJong to the semifinals where he would take a decision 6-2.
The semifinal win moved him into the Finals on Saturday night. DeJong will square off against Nolan Helickson, who is ranked #1 and has a 43-0 record for the season.
Oskaloosa did not fare as well in the wrestle backs, as Drew Sams, Cody Jones and Kylar Salazar all lost and have been knocked out of the tournament. Sams ends his season 41-10, Jones 37-10 and Salazar 29-16. All three wrestlers fought hard and are to be congratulated on great seasons.
