Oskaloosa–Alex Edwards (Sr., Knoxville, Iowa, Secondary Education) netted another qualifying mark and school record en route to again earning Midwest Collegiate Conference Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week laurels Monday.

Edwards claimed the weekly award for the eighth time in his career (sixth time for indoors) and second time this season as he crushed the competition in the 800-meter run at the UNI Jack Jennett Invitational.

The senior both qualified for nationals (‘A’ standard) and broke the school record with a time of 1:53.71. It is his third qualification (also in 600 and 1,000) and second school record (also in 1,000) this year.

Edwards currently ranks third in the NAIA in the 600 (1:20.58), fifth in the 800, and ninth in the 1,000 (2:30.87). The award is the fifth for WPU this winter.
