PELLA — Central College men’s track and field multi-eventer Eric Larson (senior, Waverly, Waverly-Shell Rock HS) was named the Iowa Conference men’s indoor track and field events performer of the week Monday.

Larson won the heptathlon by 631 points at the Dutch Athletics Classic Friday and Saturday with a score of 5,239. The two-time national champion was 38 points off his personal best in his first meet since missing most of the 2014 indoor season and all of the 2014 outdoor season with an injury. He finished first among heptathlon participants in the 55-meter dash, 1,000 meters, 55-meter hurdles, long jump and shot put and tied for first in the high jump. He currently holds the top heptathlon score in Division III this year by 289 points.

This is the third time in his career Larson has been named conference events performer of the week for men’s indoor track and field.

The Dutch will travel to Northfield, Minn. Friday to compete at the St. Olaf (Minn.) quadrangular.
