WPU Just Misses Cut at Baker Challenge
Fairview Heights, Ill.–In a format that is used in postseason competition, the Statesmen men’s bowling team narrowly missed going for the title at the McKendree Baker Challenge Saturday and Sunday.
William Penn placed tenth out of 19 teams with 7,349 pins in ten Baker sets. The Statesmen were 217 pins from qualifying for bracket play. Host McKendree led qualifying with 8,203 pins, but #4 seed Webber International (Fla.) claimed the title by upsetting #1 and #2 Lindenwood (Mo.) for the crown.
WPU’s Baker crew consisted of Michael Applegate (Jr., Council Bluffs, Iowa, Biology), Kyle Clark (Sr., Aurora, Ill., Physical Education), Stian Hoff (So., Orkanger, Norway, General Accounting), Ryan Howard (So., King, N.C., Music), Jacques Kaune (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska, Business Management), Conan Mackey (Sr., Bray, Ireland, Public Accounting), Lucas Perdieu (So., DeWitt, Iowa, Public Accounting), and Travis Scott (Jr., West Saint Paul, Minn., Physical Education).
