Robert Krebs, 97 of North English died Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo. Robert Fredrick Krebs was born April 1, 1917 in Riverside, Iowa the son of Fredrick and Ellen Thomas Krebs.
In 1936 he graduated from the Riverside High School, where he excelled at basketball. Right out of school Robert began farming with his mother in the Riverside area. In 1957 Robert moved to Kinross and began working as a farmhand. Later he accepted a position at Maple Crest Processing in Wellman, where he meet his wife. On June 16, 1950 Robert was united in marriage to Matilda.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting wood and about anything that allowed him to be outdoors. He had a soft spot in his heart for all animals, but his dogs were truly his best friends. He will be remembered as an all around good man who would never tell a friend “No”.
Robert is survived by two sons: David (& Donna) Krebs of Webster, and Arnold (& Chris) Krebs of Kinross; two daughters: Cheryl (& Michael) McDonald of What Cheer, and Robin (& Joel) Short of North English. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren; two step grand children; and fifteen great grandchildren.
He is preceded in Death by his parents; his wife, Matilda Krebs; a sister, Lorania; and two grandsons, Brian and Michael McDonald.
No funeral services have been planned.
Burial will be held privately at a later date in the English River Church of the Brethren Cemetery near South English.
