Clint William Ashman, 34, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. He was born December 12, 1980, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of George and Shirley Vander Beek Ashman.

Clint graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1999. He went on to earn his A.A. degree from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa.

Early on Clint worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Oskaloosa. He later worked for Clow Valve and Vermeer. Currently he was taking classes for Radiology.

Clint attended and was preparing to start membership classes at Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa.

He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, boating and camping. He also enjoyed sports, especially rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears.

His family includes his three sons: Isaiah Ashman, Josiah Ashman and Jeremiah Ashman, all of New Sharon; his parents, George and Shirley Ashman of Oskaloosa; his brother, Derek (& Sarah Van Der Pol) Ashman of Kansas City, Missouri; his paternal grandfather, William Ashman of Oskaloosa; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Leona Ashman; and his maternal grandparents, Abe and Sara Rose Vander Beek.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Jon Nelson officiating.
Burial will be in the Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery south of Fremont. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Friday morning after 11 a.m. and the family will be present from 5-7 Friday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to his sons’ education fund.
