William Penn University will be welcoming Randye Jones as the 2015 Dean’s Convocation keynote speaker on Thursday, January 22 at 11:05 am in the main gymnasium on William Penn’s Oskaloosa campus. Jones, a researcher and published writer, currently serves on the library staff at Grinnell College and is pursuing her doctorate at the University of Iowa.

Ms. Jones holds her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina, and her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Florida State University, Tallahassee. She is currently a doctoral student in Vocal Literature at the University of Iowa.

Jones has gained recognition for her research of and published writings on African American vocalists and composers and as a performer and lecturer through her project, The Art of the Negro Spiritual. She has presented lecture-recitals and concertized at events such as the REAP National Conference on Spirituals, National Association of Negro Musicians, and the Phenomenon of Singing International Symposium VIII in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

Join William Penn staff, faculty, and students in welcoming Randye Jones to campus as this year’s keynote speaker at the Dean’s Convocation.
