Oskaloosa–The Statesmen men’s track and field team figures to be a major player in determining the Midwest Collegiate Conference indoor and outdoor titles this year as the preseason coaches’ poll was released Friday.

William Penn collected 26 points to hold a solid third place in the six-team standings.

Grand View, the defending indoor and outdoor champion, narrowly nipped St. Ambrose 32-31 for first place. Both sides collected three first-place votes.

Clarke (15), Mount Mercy (14), and Viterbo (8) round out the standings.

William Penn continues its indoor season today at the Dubuque Sol Butler Classic.
