Oskaloosa–The William Penn softball team will go into its final season in the Midwest Collegiate Conference as league favorites after the preseason coaches’ poll was released Thursday.

William Penn, which was 36-20 last year (19-4 MCC), edges out Grand View by one point, 39-38, and has two more first-place votes (4-2).

St. Ambrose is third with 30 points, while Mount Mercy (23), Clarke (20), AIB (11), and Viterbo (7) wrap up the order.

William Penn will begin 2015 in Alabama at the Mobile Tournament on March 6 and 7. The Statesmen will face Campbellsville (Ky.), Belhaven (Miss.), South Carolina-Beaufort, and Auburn Montgomery at the event.
