Larry Leroy Hebron, 72, of Corvallis, Oregon and formerly of Oskaloosa died, Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at Corvallis Caring Place in Corvallis, Oregon. Larry L. Hebron was born on February 24, 1942, in Pierson, Iowa to Wesley Hebron and Norma J. (Hebron) Fortney.
Known by most in Oregon as Mr. Snips (the name of his barbershop business), Larry was a barber for nearly 50 years. He began his career in Oskaloosa, Iowa where he won several Iowa State Barber Competition trophies and was state champion hair stylist in both 1969 and 1970.
He later moved to Oregon and eventually retired in Corvallis. He was a local legend at his favorite bar Suds & Suds, his wind-surfer mural remains in the outside patio. An avid NASCAR fan, he enjoyed watching his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr., on the weekends.
He will forever live on in the hearts of his two sons, daughter, family and friends, who were lucky enough to know him.
Survivors include two sons: Archie Earl Hebron of Albany, OR and Daniel David Hebron of Jenner, CA; a daughter, Holly Eldredge of Cicero IN; two brothers: Mike (& Tammie) Fortney of Oskaloosa and Craig Fortney of Moorhead, MN; and seven grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his sister.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Forest Cemetery; please access the cemetery by the North 11th ST entrance.
A family gathering will follow at 304 5th Ave. East, Oskaloosa. Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
