Steve Peters, president of VenuWorks, is pleased to announce Scott Hallgren as the new Executive Director of the VenuWorks-managed, Bridge View Center following City Council approval last night. He replaces Larry Gawronski who is moving into a corporate role at the end of the month.

“We are pleased to have Scott continue his work with VenuWorks in Ottumwa,” said Peters. “He brings a wealth of experience in programming, customer service and operations from other venues in Iowa along with having family ties to Ottumwa. When this opportunity became available, Scott was at the top of the candidate list.”

Hallgren will begin his new duties on March 9. He comes to Ottumwa from VenuWorks-managed Clay County Regional Events Center in Spencer, Iowa where he served for 10 years as General Manager. Prior to joining VenuWorks, he held positions at the Polk County Convention Complex and the Renaissance Savery Hotel in Des Moines. Hallgren graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and completed the International Association of Venue Managers’ Venue Management School’s two year program. He has served on numerous boards and in leadership positions while in Spencer including the Rotary Club, NW Iowa Down Syndrome Society and the First English Lutheran Church.

“I am thrilled about this opportunity for both my family and me in Ottumwa, and our family is looking forward to the move and becoming Ottumwa Bulldogs,” said Hallgren. “This is a tremendous venue, and I am proud to now become a part of the Bridge View Center team and look forward to working with the staff, the City, business and community leaders, our current customers, and many others to continue to grow upon what has been accomplished.”

In the interim, VenuWorks has appointed industry veteran, Tim Berry, as Interim Executive Director, to work with clients and BVC staff through March 9.
