Melody May Hurd passed away on January 1, 2015. Melody was born May 23, 1956 in What Cheer, Iowa the daughter of Carl and Rosemary Asbury Hurd. She attended school in Oskaloosa and First Resources in Sigourney. Melody enjoyed Camp Courageous and Special Olympics where she was active in Basketball and was a state champion in Bowling.
Melody loved listening to Johnny Cash while she played her guitar. She also loved watching John Wayne and WWF Wrestling. Melody will be remembered as a sweet, happy person who loved picking on her family.
Melody is survived by her sister, Carlene Martin of Knoxville; a nephew, Chris (& Sandi) Terrell of What Cheer; two nieces: Tiffany (& James) Rominger of Lovilia, and Samantha Terrell of Knoxville. She also leaves behind three great nieces: Hannah Terrell, Jillian Rominger and Alexis Rominger.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and a step father, Ed Porter.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00 on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
Burial will be in the Waddell Cemetery near Delta.
