Oskaloosa Indians

Grinnell, Iowa – One name… DeJa Jackson. If the Osky girls ever hear that name again it will be far too soon.

All that Grinnell’s Jackson did was explode on Oskaloosa in all aspects of the game. Jackson’s speed, along with her inside and outside shooting, made it seem like she couldn’t be stopped.

Oskaloosa started the scoring with senior Asia Laudermilch on a 17 foot jumper. Oskaloosa Sophomore Alexis Westercamp ran the floor and converted a fast break layup to put Oskaloosa up 4-2.

The Indians continued to keep pace as senior Taylor Richardson drained a long 3 point shot and the score was tied at 7-7.

From that point on, Oskaloosa turned the basketball over and Jackson and the Tigers went on a run that Osky would not recover from. The Indians trailed 16-9 at the end of the first quarter.

Oskaloosa came out and tried to slow down the Tigers, as Richardson hit another 3 point shot to bring the Indians to within 5 at 17-12. That’s as close as the game would get as the Tigers were tough on the boards. The strong rebounding performance by the Tigers led to run outs for easy buckets. The Tigers lead 42-16 at the half.

The second half was more of the Jackson show. She drained more 3’s, on the way to a huge 33 point performance. Oskaloosa kept fighting, with Westercamp having a strong second half, but Osky just couldn’t stop the Tigers as they went on to a 70-36 victory.

Oskaloosa was led by Westercamp with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Richardson added 7 points and 2 rebounds. Laudermilch also netted 7 points and 5 rebounds.

Oskaloosa is off for Christmas break and will be back in action January 6th, when they host DCG in Little Hawkeye Conference action.

The Indians are now 1-4 on the season.
