Glenn Lloyd Patrick, 80, of Oskaloosa and formerly of rural Eddyville died Thursday, December 18, 2014, at his home in Oskaloosa. He was born November 3, 1934, in Oskaloosa the son of Lloyd and Jeanette (Denburger) Patrick.

Glenn graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1953. Following Glenn’s graduation, he was a truck driver for several years until he began farming. On September 8, 1957 he married Mildred Louise Mika at the Oskaloosa Christian Church. To this union two children were born, Susan Diane and Rodney Glenn. Together they farmed the Mika home place in Eddyville beginning in 1960 until 2004 when they moved to Oskaloosa. It was important to him to take care of the family farms. He did an amazing job maintaining both of the family farms.

Glenn was a member of the Eddyville Methodist Church and later the Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa. Glenn made a choice to receive Jesus Christ as Lord of his life. Glenn was a friend to everyone, he knew no strangers. He enjoyed coffee time with his buddies, fishing at the pond with his son and grandsons, farming and camping, especially at the Iowa State fair, with his children and grandchildren. Glenn was always willing to help out anyone in the neighborhood. He enjoyed visiting with everyone. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, forgiving spirit and devotion to God.

Glenn is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Mildred Patrick; a daughter and her husband: Susan (& Calvin) Rychener of Peoria, Illinois; 4 grandchildren: Kathryn (& Andy) Rogers, Jonathon (& Michaela) Rychener, Victoria (& Kody) Pinson and Nathan Rychener; one great-granddaughter, Avery Rogers.

Glenn was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Glenn Patrick; his grandson, Christopher Rychener; and a sister, Francine DeBruin.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 22, 2014, at 10 a.m. in the First Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Calvin Rychener officiating.
Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery at Eddyville. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Sunday morning after 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials can be made to either Assembly of God church in Oskaloosa or the Heartland Pregnancy Center in Ottumwa, Iowa.
