Pella, Iowa – The Oskaloosa girls were looking to build some momentum coming off of their first win earlier in the week over Centerville. What the Indians found is that Pella Christian’s height was too much. Pella Christain notched up another win,  as the Indians fell 54-26 in Little Hawkeye Conference action Friday night.

The first quarter was not friendly to either team as they could not buy a basket. Senior Asia Laudermilch got the Indians on the board before leading scorer senior Taylor Richardson hit a 3 pointer. Oskaloosa held their own with the cold shooting Eagles with the score being tied at 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.

Pella Christian started to find the going good on the inside, taking advantage of their 6’2″ center. This enabled PC to spring out to a 21-12 lead at halftime.

Oskaloosa managed just 5 points in the quarter, a foreshadowing to what was to come in the second half.

The lady Indians continued to struggle as they only shot around 20% from the field. Pella Christian was just beginning to heat up as they began pounding the ball inside. Oskaloosa had no help on defense, giving up numerous layups. The Eagles went on to take the win in the Little Hawkeye Conference.

The Indians were led by sophomore Alexis Westercamp with 10 pts., 9 rebs. and 3 blocks. Richardson ended up with 6 pts., 2 rebs. and 4 asst. Osky is now 1-3 on the season and is in action Friday as they travel to Grinnell to take on the Tigers in Little Hawkeye Conference action.
