[Oskaloosa, Iowa] – The Mahaska County YMCA is ringing in the New Year with members, guests, and staff with a remodel of the adult fitness room facilities. What once was a one-room, all-encompassing workout area for adults, has now been separated into two defined fitness areas. A cardio room including all treadmills, ellipticals, steppers, and bikes has been created adjacent to the existing fitness room, which now contains all selectorized and free weight equipment, showcasing a new layout. The expansion has allowed for a much more user-friendly and safe experience in both rooms.

Fitness Director Ryan Harkema explained, “No longer are cardio machines, free weights, and selectorized machines all crammed into one area. With the increased usage volume expected in both the cardio and weight areas as we enter 2015, this offers a great opportunity to achieve fitness goals, for everyone. From power lifting to circuit-style workouts to weight-loss focused cardio sessions, the new improvements are sure to please all around.”

“Join us! We have space for new members and can’t wait to help you meet your wellness goals,” said Dawn Collins, Executive Director. “The Y offers people a new support system, a family. There is no better place to be.” The Y offers memberships for all community members and provides financial assistance for those in need. To join the Y, stop by and take a tour at 414 N Third Street in Oskaloosa. For information regarding our programs and service, you may also call at 641.673.8411 or go online to www.mahaskaYMCA.org.
