Jo Ann Kool, 80, of Oskaloosa passed away Saturday evening, December 6, 2014, at the Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa. Jo Ann Kool, was born August 5, 1934, in rural Mahaska County, the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Wassenhoven) Moffet.
Jo Ann was a 1952 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. Later that summer, on July 3rd, 1952, she was united in marriage to Clayton David Kool in Oskaloosa.
Jo Ann was a homemaker while her children were young and worked in the office at Family Medical Center. She then worked for the Attorney Earl Jones as a law secretary, a position she held for 18 years. Later she opened Kool Janitorial Supply, a business she operated for more than 12 years, serving clients all over the county. Jo Ann assisted her husband with the bookkeeping in his businesses, Kool Pest Control and Kool Rentals.
Jo Ann loved growing flowers and working in her yard.
Her family includes her daughter, Kimberly Kool of Oskaloosa; and a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin (& Teresa) Kool of Cedar Falls, IA; a grandson, Brandon Clayton (& Brooke) Kool of Cedar Falls; a granddaughter, Alicia Janel (& Nic) Moran, also of Cedar Falls; two great-grandchildren: Barrett and Emma; three step-great-grandchildren: MacKenzie, Johnathan and Hana; two sisters: Louise Heaton of Oskaloosa and Beverly (& Paul) Floden of Oskaloosa; three brothers: Carl (& Beulah) Moffet of Mesa, Arizona, Bill (& Georgia) Moffet of San Bernardino, California, and Jerry Moffet of Greeley, Colorado.
In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton, on February 3, 2013; a sister, Alberta Moffet; a brother, Robert Moffet; and a brother-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Heaton.
Funeral Services for Jo Ann will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at the Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel; her family will officiate.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and resume Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. with the family present from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials may be made to the Activity Fund at Oskaloosa Care Center.
