Three in Top 20 at Wisconsin Tourney

Madison, Wis.–A balanced attack paced the Statesmen men’s bowling program at the Warhawk Open Saturday and Sunday.

The Statesmen finished fourth out of 25 teams with 9,224 pins in six regular games and four Baker sets. Robert Morris (Ill.) topped the standings with 9,815 pins.

Kevin Scholz of host Wisconsin-Whitewater was first in the 207-player field with a 229.2 average (1,375 pins).

Jacques Kaune (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska, Business Management) headed the Statesmen in ninth place with a 219.8 average. Kaune’s average is the best of any WPU player this season; his weekend included five rounds with at least 200 pins. Lucas Perdieu (So., DeWitt, Iowa, Public Accounting), in 17th at 208.0, and Ryan Howard (So., King, N.C., Music), in 18th at 206.0, were also in the top 20.

Conan Mackey (Sr., Bray, Ireland, Public Accounting) started all six games as well, posting a 189.3 clip. Kyle Clark (Sr., Aurora, Ill., Physical Education) managed a 192.5 average over four games, while Travis Scott (Jr., West Saint Paul, Minn., Physical Education) tallied a 182.5 mark in two rounds.

The Statesmen’s junior varsity also competed, finishing fourth in that division with 8,590 pins. Stian Hoff (So., Orkanger, Norway, General Accounting) was the JV’s best roller with a 197.5 average. Jordan Lowery (Fr., Lexington, N.C., History/Government) (190.8) and Connor Frederick (Sr., Ottumwa, Iowa, History/Government) (178.8) started all six games as well.

Kevin Wesely (Jr., Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Industrial Technology) recorded a 179.4 average in five rounds, while Cory Rissman (Jr., Yorkville, Ill., Industrial Technology) averaged 186.5 pins in four games.

Cody Adair (So., Kearns, Utah, Undecided) rounded out the junior varsity’s scoring with a 172.0 mark in three games.

Next Up: William Penn returns to action just before Christmas with a pair of tournaments in Las Vegas, Nev. The team first competes in the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational on December 20-21 and then participates in the Las Vegas Collegiate Shootout on December 22-23.
