Oskaloosa, Iowa – On Saturday, October 18, the Mahaska County YMCA and co-sponsors Clow Valve Company and Mahaska Health Partnership, hosted the 3rd annual Freaky 5k Run/Walk and Kids’ Fun Run at the Lacey Complex Stadium. With the Fun Run beginning at 8am and the 5k taking place at 9am, the stadium was filled with fantastic Halloween-themed costumes in the early morning hours. A total of 57 5k runners registered for the race, with 11 participants enrolled in the Kids’ Fun Run.

Fitness Instructor at the Mahaska County YMCA, Lisa Wagner, expressed that “having the Freaky 5k event is a fun opportunity for the youth and adults of Mahaska County to get out and be active. With the number of participants, volunteers and sponsors that are involved every year, this race has become one that people look forward to every October. The great costumes are reason enough for people to come out and get involved!”
