Wanda Kahl, 89, of What Cheer died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the Sigourney Care Center. Wanda Beatrice Kahl was born March 6, 1925 in Stockport, Iowa the daughter of Fredrick Charles Craff and Nellie Pearl Loving.

After attending country school Wanda married John Barnett and later Dave Cooney. Then in 1970 she was united in marriage to Ervin Kahl. Wanda was a homemaker for years and always looked forward to taking care of a large garden. She will be remembered for her feisty attitude and a good since of humor.

Wanda is survived by four daughters: Carol Hazen of What Cheer, Thelma (& Ed) Hurley of New York, Linda Cooney of Davenport, and Sharon Barnett of Ottumwa. Wanda also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; her husband, Ervin Kahl; two daughters, Joyce Gammel and Marsha Haffner; and three grandchildren, Todd Hazen, Lori Hazen and John McIntyre.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Sixteen Cemetery near Thornburg.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer on Friday and last until the time of service.
Burial will be in the Sixteen Cemetery.
