Lyene “Lynn” Schroedter, 81 of Montezuma passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell. Lyene Marie Schroedter, the daughter of Royal and Marie (Warner) Pierce was born on November 21, 1932.

Lyene attended and graduated from Woodward High School. She then moved to Biloxi, Mississippi and began working at the Air Force Base in Civil Service. She met the love of her life, Larry Schroedter, who was also stationed at the Air Force Base, and they were married on May 3, 1957. To this union four daughters were born.

Lyene and her family eventually moved to Ogden, Iowa, where she was a housewife, mother and helped Larry on the farm. They moved to Montezuma in 1978 where Lyene became very active in her church and bible study. She served as an Elder, a Deacon and was the President of the Presbyterian Women for many years.

Lyene held several jobs, including being a pre-school teacher and working at Sandy’s Soda Fountain. She loved being around children.

Lyene enjoyed playing dominoes, coffee time with friends, attending school activities and was a faithful visitor at the nursing home. Faith and family were very important to her.

She was a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women, PEO, the Montezuma Country Club and several card clubs.

She is survived by her daughters: Dena Nichols (& Brian Haffner) of Story City, Annette (& Lynn) Carl of Montezuma, Janet (& Jonathan) Wilson of Ukiah, California, and Sandy (& Joe) Scurr of Gilman; eight Grandchildren: Melissa (& Jeff) Blume, Clint (& Cari) Rothfus, Anthony (& Raelee) Reed, Katherine Wilson, Drake Wilson, Scott Carl, Kevin (& Monica) Carl, and Kerri Carl; 12 Great Grandchildren; her sister Nadine (Lynn) Wooley of Many, Louisiana; nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

Lyene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Larry Schroedter in 1998; and brothers Dean and Bill Pierce.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Montezuma at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.
Visitation will be held on Friday beginning at noon with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Evangelical Presbyterian Women.
