Elaine Jones, 77, of Oskaloosa passed away Saturday afternoon, September 20, 2014, at the MHP Hospice Services Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
Elaine Nadine Jones, daughter of Gerald and Irene (Allsup) Fox, was born August 14, 1937, at the home of her parents near Rose Hill.

Elaine was a 1955 graduate of Lacey High School. Following her education she worked as a bookkeeper at Sunstrum’s, a men’s clothing store in Oskaloosa. December 4, 1964, Elaine married William “Bill” Teal Jones at the U.S. Naval Chapel in Oak Harbor, Washington. Bill’s career in the Navy took the family to several locations around the globe including: Rota, Spain and Dunoon, Scotland. After a service related injury, the family returned to Mahaska County. Bill passed away February 3, 1975.

Elaine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the D.A.V. and the American Legion Auxiliaries and the Moose Lodge.

Her first priority was always family and she delighted having her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren near.
Elaine’s family includes two sons: Scott (& Kim) Jones of Holland, MI and John (& Brenda) Jones of Wahpeton, ND; and two daughters: Becki (& Steve) Gursky of Oskaloosa and Julie Jones of Newton; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Allison of Deep River, and sister-in-law, Shirley (Vernon) Wells of Oskaloosa.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Elaine was preceded in death by a daughter, Kerry Banks and an infant son; two brothers-in-law: Arthur Allison and Robert Jones; and three sisters-in-law: Eileen Suiter, Evelyn Zack and Johnita Jones.

Memorial services for Elaine will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday morning, September 27, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Hans Cornelder officiating.
As was her wish, her body has been cremated and private burial of her cremated remains will be in Forest Cemetery.
A family visitation will be held from 10 -11 a.m. in the south foyer of the church. Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp is entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the MHP Hospice Services Serenity House.
