Bellevue, Neb.–Something had to give Wednesday and unfortunately the outcome was not in William Penn’s favor in a 3-1 loss to Bellevue in non-conference play.

The Statesmen (4-1), who lost for the first time in 2014, had not only their four-game winning streak snapped. They also allowed their first goal in over three games when the Bruins (4-1-1) got on the board in the 36th minute. Bellevue, which is receiving votes, extended its own unbeaten streak to five.

Luiz Teles (So., Picarres, Brazil, Undecided) made things interesting very early in the second stanza with an unassisted goal at the 47:05 mark. The goal is his first of the season.

WPU permitted only ten shots (had four of its own), but struggled down the stretch with the home team scoring in the 57th and 87th minutes (penalty kick).

Mason Bandy (Sr., Calgary, Alberta, Biology) saved three shots.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Orange City Saturday to face Northwestern in non-conference action at 3 p.m.
