Ray Dean Trembly, 70, of Chariton died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the Circle of Life Hospice in Chariton. He was born Thursday, March 2, 1944, in Wayne County, Iowa, the son of William Clark and Elsie Merrett Trembly, Sr.

Ray graduated from Garden Grove High School with the class of 1962, and later attended college in Springfield, Missouri for office equipment repair. On March 16, 1968, Ray was united in marriage to Judy Palmer in Chariton. Early on, he worked for his father doing lawn mower repair and mechanical work on cars. Ray then ran a service station and later worked factory jobs including TentexTile in Granger and Nestaway in Chariton. He retired in 1992.

Ray loved to work in his yard and also enjoyed fishing and camping. He enjoyed reading, especially Louis L’Amour books, delighted in spending time with his grandchildren, woodworking and model planes. He also enjoyed spoiling his three dogs.

Ray is survived by his wife of 46 years: Judy Trembly of Chariton; a daughter: Rania (& Kelly) Snider of Chariton; two grandchildren: Lee and Ann Snider; two sisters: Della Mae (& Junior) Dale of Caldwell, Idaho and Donna (& Duffy) Ziebar of Lowman, Idaho; three brothers: Bill (& Fran) Trembly of Boone, Walter (& Reva) Trembly and Bobby (& Sally) Trembly both of Indianola; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Don Trembly and two sisters: Virginia Street and Linda Mendehaul.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, Iowa, with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating.
Following the service Ray’s body will be cremated, as was his wish.
Visitation with the family will begin Thursday at 11 a.m. and continue until service time at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice in Chariton.
