Oskaloosa, Iowa – Mahaska County Community Foundation grants Christian Opportunity Center’s Oskaloosa location commercial picnic tables for outdoor work area

The Mahaska County Community Foundation approved a grant application resulting in $1,885 for the purchase of two commercial picnic tables and cement pads for Christian Opportunity Center’s (COC) Oskaloosa location.

The area serves as a clean, safe place for outdoor activities and is already being used for life skills and work breaks. The tables create a professional outdoor patio area for COC employees and people served, visitors and community members.

COC received the grant in early May 2014.

Established in 2005, the Mahaska County Community Foundation serves the needs and philanthropic aims of donors in support of the betterment of greater Mahaska County communities. Grant awards must address at least one of the foundation’s areas of emphasis: arts and culture, community betterment, education, health and human services, recreation and environment and youth development.

Founded in 1969, COC provides residential and vocational support and services to nearly 300 people with disabilities in Marion, Mahaska, Warren and Polk counties.
