Oskaloosa–The William Penn women’s golf program put forth its best efforts on home soil by taking the top spots at the Oskaloosa City Tournament Sunday.

Demi Coertze (Jr., Johannesburg, South Africa, Digital Communications) dominated the eight-person field for the women’s title, posting a one-over 71 and a one-under 69 for an even-par 140 at Edmundson Golf Course.

Coertze was a first-team all-Midwest Collegiate Conference performer and an NAIA Third-Team All-American. She tied for 22nd at the NAIA National Championships in May.

Carly Schmalz (So., Buffalo Lake, Minn., History/Government) was next on the leaderboard, collecting the silver at 158 (78-80), while former all-conference standout Dena Stevens was third at 168 (81-87).

#16 nationally-ranked William Penn opens its fall campaign on August 27-29 at the Madonna Crusader Classic in Gaylord, Mich.
