Edwards Collects CoSIDA Academic All-District Award

Oskaloosa–Sydney Edwards (Jr., Galesburg, Ill., Psychology & Biology) was recognized for being a tremendous student and athlete Thursday.
Edwards was named an all-District 3 College Division honoree for Softball as part of the Capitol One Academic All-America program by CoSIDA.
The all-district accolade recognizes student-athletes not only for their athletic prowess but also their successes academically. The College division includes institutions within the NAIA ranks as well as Canadian universities and two-year schools.
Edwards, who owns a 3.96 Grade Point Average, has had a huge junior campaign. She is hitting .351 (54-for-154) with 11 doubles, three triples, six home runs, 46 runs scored, and 40 RBIs. The junior is posting a .578 slugging percentage and a .398 on-base clip. Not known for her power, she entered this season without a collegiate home run but currently has a half dozen, including two last Sunday.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least sophomore academic standing, be a starter or key reserve player (other playing requirements where applicable), maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full calendar year.
