Connie E. Ford, 69, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the Mahaska Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
Connie was born November 20, 1944 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Mervin D. and Mildred Powell Royer. She graduated from the Nickerson, Kansas High School with the class of 1962.
On May 6, 1972, Connie was united in marriage to Richard Ford at Chase, Kansas. She worked as a Certified Nurse Aide for over 43 years in various facilities. They moved to Oskaloosa in 2011.
Connie loved to read; her dog, Susie; and caring for others.
Her family includes her husband, Richard Ford of Oskaloosa; a son and his wife: Jerry and Rose Olds of Wichita, Kansas; a daughter and her husband: Theresa and Daryl Sanders of Oskaloosa; three grandchildren: Shelah (Mark) Strempke, Ronnie Sanders, and Caleb Sanders; and a great granddaughter: Kinley Strempke. Also surviving are two brothers: Lonnie (and Nita) Royer of Wichita, Kansas and Leon Royer in California; a sister: Barbara Royer (and Jim) of Roswell, New Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; and a great granddaughter, Breckyn Gish.
As was Connie’s wish, she has been cremated, and no visitation nor services are planned. Arrangements are provided by the Bates Funeral Chapel, Oskaloosa.
