MAHASKA COUNTY – The Mahaska Health Partnership Hospital Auxiliary recently donated $3,736.54 to MHP for the purchase of a blanket for the Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatry (IGP) Department.

According to IPG Director Laurene Garvis, MBL, BSN, RN-BC, LNHA, patients her department treats are often more sensitive to temperature changes, so a warm blanket can offer comfort. “It’s the little things that make a difference, and we are grateful for the Auxiliary’s continued support of our patients.”

The MHP Hospital Auxiliary is a volunteer organization that helps promote and advance the welfare of MHP and its mission. The auxiliary helps purchase needed medical equipment and supports various hospital programs that benefit the community.

The auxiliary was formed in 1955 and has provided support to the hospital through money raised by operating Whispering Tree Gifts, now located on the lower level of the new patient care wing at entrance #4. The Auxiliary also holds a variety of fundraisers throughout the year, including jewelry, uniform and plant sales.

If you are interested in becoming a Hospital Auxiliary member or would like more information regarding volunteer opportunities at Mahaska Health Partnership, please call 641.672.3342 or visit us online at mahaskahealth.org.
