Julie passed away Thursday at the MHP Hospice Services Serenity House in Oskaloosa.

Julie Lea Linsted, daughter of Jack Kenneth and Elsie Arlene (Stigers) Caves, was born June 2, 1949 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was raised in rural Deep River and Barnes City. Julie was a 1967 graduate of Montezuma High School.

Julie was united in marriage to Gordon Howard Linsted, October 21, 1967, in New Sharon, Iowa. They made their home on a farm near Taintor and while her three children were young she was a stay-at-home mom and enjoyed many summer days at the Prairie Knoll swimming pool with them. Gordon passed away, April 11, 1983, and in 1984 the family moved to Oskaloosa.

When her children were in high school, Julie went to work for Brooms, Inc. In 1997 Julie began working for Montezuma Manufacturing, she remained there 17 years, retiring February 7, 2014.

In her spare time, Julie enjoyed gardening and planting flowers.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Jeff Linsted of Oskaloosa, Brent (Trudy) Linsted of Ottumwa, and Stacy (Chad) Thomas of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren: Jenna, Gavin, Gannon, Nick, Zakk and Liam; her mother, Elsie Caves; her brothers: Rick (Charlotte) Caves of Oskaloosa and Mark (Carmen) Caves of Barnes City and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Julie was preceded in death by her father and a nephew, Tracy Caves.

As was her wish, her body has been cremated.
Burial of her ashes will be at 3p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014, in Stewart Cemetery near Taintor with the Rev. David Raymond officiating.
A Celebration of her life will follow the committal service and will be held at the home of Mark and Carmen Caves located at 5368 Barnes City RD Montezuma, IA. Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the MHP Hospice Services Serenity House.
